Operation Rango: Into the Snow (Snowpocalypse) - HD April 2012 - This week I released my first short film starring Rango, a programmer/metal guitarist/ballet dancer with an evil robot and an empathetic rabbit. Operation Rango: Into the Snow is based on improvisational footage captured during Seattle's tragic Snowpocalypse back in January 2012 as the technology mecca collapsed under the gentle dusting. It's become a Rango signature piece, now republished in a sharper format with remastered audio. It's 8 minutes long, a dark comedy that blends the lines of my life rolling around in the snow with those in the narrative, indie musicians I've become friends with over the years. The first sequel has also been published, This is not Empire, available on all of my distribution channels. I wrote and performed all of the music minus a few barres in the final credits, and I came up with the narrative on the fly. It took me 45 minutes in the snow and 24 hours continuous editing to create the original cut, and 4 months to find the time to frost the cake. Note the audio quality here is marginal, the vocals are a little washed out by both the crowd and the guitar. I was able to improve them with notch filter equalization and noise removal, but there's only so much you can do. I'll be back on stage next week and we'll get it right then. I'm publishing the video anyway in the spirit of the contest. At the end of the performance you can see my surprise when I realized that none of the judges rang their bell.
