Started playing piano when I was in grade school - got serious when I was 15 and started writing songs and playing in bands. A few years later I caught the singing bug.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Either "Beatlemania" or the Bay City Rollers in 1977 - not sure which. I would have been 11 or 12.
What are you looking for from Fandalism?
I like networking and collaborating with other artists. Would also love to be in some sort of a band again, playing interesting original music - not necessarily mine.
What gear do you use?
Favorite keyboards that I've used over the years are a Korg 01/W synth and a Hammond M3 organ w/ Leslie 147. For vocals, I use Gefell and Neumann mics.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Would have to say Keith Emerson - not that I can play like him - but just in terms of opening my mind to what was possible in rock music.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I gave up on bands in the late 90's and started concentrating on recording projects instead. I've put out a few albums since then and done some online collaborating. I came "out of retirement" to front prog rock band Kinetic Element for a couple of showcase gigs in 2015, and a festival slot a year later.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Biggest was a few hundred at the Terra Incognita festival in Quebec, 2016. Smallest was at CBGB during the 80's, where the band members outnumbered the audience.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
