How long have you been playing?
"The Reverend Orko Baba", aka "The Rev" or "Reverend Martin James"
I have been playing and performing since my early teens. I became a musician to escape the trauma of everyday life and find my center. Another form of meditation to raise my vibe. I found that life is precious. We need to be centered and understanding of the world around us. My original music and the music I choose to cover is a reflection of that thought.
We are all imperfect people doing the best we can with what we have. The most we can do is grow and move forward. I really feel that is the energy I want to create and distribute to those who absorb.

What was the first concert you ever went to?
The first Official Concert I attended was when I was 20, it was a KROCK in NY
it was the first time I saw The Reverend Horton Heat!
One of the most inspirational stage shows ever!
I wasn't ordained until 2012 and never thought that I myself would hear someone calling out at me "Rev" in the middle of set but, I felt a kindred soul feeling as he rocked us all to hillbilly heaven.

What are you looking for from Fandalism?
I am looking for an outlet for my music and a way to connect with other like minded artists.
Fandalism has honestly served me very well in my career lately. I don't have to compete with other types of video makers for attention. I My most recent video received over 1,000 views in less than 3 days. On other platforms they aren't even at 100.

What gear do you use?
I honestly like any gear that's pro grade or even novice. A good musician should be ready to rock a cigar box guitar in a moment's notice. I agree that gear helps artistic quality in many situations. I also have seen a lot of performers hinder themselves by using it as a crutch.

Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Square dances, Ralph Stanley's "Blue Grass, Blue Grass" show in late 70's early 80's. RUN DMC, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Bruce Yaw........
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Currently as a lot of people are seeing "Rodda and The Rev" is a project I have with Thomas Rodda, also of Auburn NY.
We also have "The Sinners and Saints Collective" which do to circumstances isn't as active at the moment.
After leaving the Sterling Area and spanning out I can be found lately showing up at Festivals, Bars and Jamming with other bands like "Never Too Late" "The Deadbolts" and "One Man The Band" and others.
I can be booked, signed or traded for coconuts in the right situations. find me on Facebook

What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Over 1,000 people at a festival I won't disclose. Was a dream come true, keeps getting better!
Smallest was a bar show, 6 people in the bar, 3 of them maybe wanted to hear us. That's when it becomes a job. We had fun, still jammed and got paid. The big ones to me lately are worth more that the money. The energy feeds my playing so it's very much a rush!
