Been playing guitar for 12 years, started at 19. I was determined to learn how to play "Paint It Black" even if it was to be the only song I would ever learn, and then just took off from there.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
I think it was the Deftones because my friends were really into them, and it was only $1 to get in. I remember they incorporated some Tribe Called Quest lyrics, that was cool.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Probably The Beatles, like almost everyone else. Around the age of 3 or 4, I saw the movie Yellow Submarine. I must have watched it everyday for a couple months.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Not currently
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
The Bowerbirds, hands down. I would sing with them for as long as they'd let me. Also, the Elephant 6 orchestra. They're like a circus of music, and can incorporate any instrument
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Biggest = 60+ people? The most memorable was the walnut room. The entire audience sung along with us. That's my favorite part of any show
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
It's always been "Aeroplane over the sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel, my all time favorite. But right now it might be replaced by the new Bowerbirds album, "The Clearing". Simply beautiful
