I started playing guitar when I was 16. I was already singing in church and school functions. My first band was formed when I was 18, we played 50's music. I then went on to start or join several other bands, ranging from heavy metal to country.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
I believe it was in 1976. It was Black Sabbath. My friend Steve and I went with his brother, we weren't supposed to go! It was the first time I saw people smoking pot in the open.
What gear do you use?
I have a Alvarez AJ60SC jumbo acoustic electric guitar. A Yamaha Pacifica strat style that I have extensively modded. I also have a Peavey USA Predator (strat-type) that is my favorite guitar. Peavey Classic 30, Fender Mustang III, Mac Pro desktop running Reaper. Cad, Shure, and AKG mics. Tascam interface. Alesis Q25 controller.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
First it was my Dad, because he sang all the time, and had a good voice. then probably John Denver. Then BTO, KISS, Golden Earing, Styx, Then - Rush. Rush became the biggest influence of all.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Not in a band at the moment, but jamming with a friend. I have been in rock, country and blues bands.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Chuck Berry. I believe he is the reason why rock and roll is what it is!
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
It was about 800 some people, in Safford Arizona with the Brando Quin Band. My most memorable was at the Sargent County Fair in Forman, North Dakota, because it was my first really big gig!
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Rush, 2112. I first heard it when I was a sophomore in High School. I liked it because it was a combination of hard rock and sci-fi.
