Started in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Spain in '62. Running wild in the olive groves, vinyards and sugar-cane plantations, and learning the toque from Andalucian hillbillies.....
Hung out in the smoke during the sixties and seventies, picked up a few tricks from some guitar players here and there and had a total blast along the way (thank you guys).....
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Snuck in the side door of the Iroko in Belsize Park in '67 and saw Hendrix. The rumours were rife, and true - Jimi proceeded to demonstrate an alternative to everyone in the Haverstock Hill Country Club, and made me realise guitar playing wasn't so much a road, more of a cosmic highway.....
What gear do you use?
My main squeeze is a pre-serial '52 Les Paul Goldtop. I love her to pieces.....
Had a shed load over the years, some incredible gear too, but whittled it all down to a Traynor YGL-3 Mk.3, a Palmer PDI-03, a handful of guitars and some fingernails.
What are you looking for from Fandalism?
Looking for? Surprises, inspiration, ear-candy with soul and passion, lunch, whatever.....
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Hendrix to an extent, but in general it was Stills, Bloomfield, Cooder, Allman, Page, Zappa, Kottke, and in person it was Beck, Gallagher, Graham, Grossman. Edmunds, Green.....
and Moore.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Long story short - so close several times, but no coconut.....
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Henry Sloan (January 1870 13 March 1948) and every guitar player since who knew or knows his name. Why? Because the feeling is there.....
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Smallest - coupla chickens, a cat and a dog.
Biggest - the entire population of London, England (that listened to Capital in the wee small hours back in the seventies - thank's Dave and Tommy).....
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Manassas "Manassas" (1972)
Stephen Stills, Chris Hillman, Al Perkins, Calvin "Fuzzy" Samuel, Paul Harris, Dallas Taylor, Joe Lala, Sydney George, Jerry Aiello, Bill Wyman, Roger Bush, Byron Berline, Jerry Garcia - what's not to like.....
