How long have you been playing?
My Bio :
As the son of a world-renowned concert pianist, John J Kirby III was influenced and introduced to the wondrous world of music from birth.
At the early age of three years old, John was already practicing his piano
scales as well as singing songs. By the time John reached eight he had begun
extensive lessons on piano and guitar with New England Conservatory of
Music. John practiced his love for music religiously in the form of theory
and composition several hours daily. At the age of seventeen, Johns interests led him to further study theory of music more intensely by attending elective courses with Berklee College of Music in Boston Ma.
Johns goal was to perfect and perform his own original work which he had been working on throughout his teen years, and he did just that. At eighteen
John formed a motivated and talented band by the name of Locust. Johns
versatility and uniquely gifted styles of lead guitar and piano were backed by
extremely strong melodic harmonious vocals. The band was welcomed
immediately in just about every major club and function in the New England area. Locust performed in such clubs as: The Frolics (Salisbury Ma), The Club Casino (Hampton Beach NH.), Mr. Cs Rock Palace (Boston Ma.), Paradise Rock Club (Boston Ma.) and Cranes Castle (Ipswich Ma.) for The Hollywood Actors Guild where they received an overwhelming response, just to name a few. Johns song writing and stage presence abilities had improved with experience from performing. His style of music ranged widely from contemporary rock, blues, and jazz along with his classical background. With John managing the business aspect of Locusts career, the band signed recording and touring contracts from Boston to St. Petersburg Fla. and across the US. to California. Locust eventually faded because of several interpersonal problems within the band. John continued to perform with other musicians playing along side many well-recognized musicians, such as The Joe Perry Project, The Allman Brothers Band, and one of his dearest departed friends Stevie Ray Vaughan. After his marriage to his devoted wife Lois in 1990, John decided to discontinue the touring aspect of the music business, although John did not stop composing and creating songs and ballads to this current day at his home using his state of the art digital recording studio. He and his wife, Lois reside in the beautiful scenic woodlands of New Hampshire.
John is also the CEO of a State Of The Art Recording Studio ( JTL Audio). Please feel free to stop by anytime to our Facebook page and say hello. We are doing a fund-raiser for the original 1st responders and God knows we could use the support. So even just joining our site gives hope to our mission! Rock On and Peace to all,

Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Trciky question. when I was 4-8 years old I studied everything from Bach to Burt Bacharach taking piano lessons from The New England Conservatory of Music, BUT when I picked up the guitar at the age of 8, Neil Young was my main influence. and he is still awesome today!
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Iron-Cross ( 1975-1977), "Locust" (1978-1990) and more recently "Logic" ( 2011-2012)

If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
My dearly departed brother, lead vocalist and bassist extraordinaire, Billy Welch. He was our band "Locust" front man and Wow how he could hold an audience. He had the heart of a saint and not only sang from his heart , he lived and breathed music his whole life! * Rock On brother Billy, We shall jam together again.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Carson City Nevada ( 8,500 people). and the smallest audience is when I play to my wife who is my biggest fan :)
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
I can't answer this one.... way too many to choose from.. but as long as I had my acoustic, I'd be smiling

This song I composed after spending not only our honey-moon on Rangeley Lake Maine, but my wife, Lois and I have been back to the exact same small cabin several times since our honey-moon in 1990. Rangeley is a magical and most beautiful small village with a population of under 1000 year round. The couple who own the cabins ( Joey and Cheryl) as well as their manager Jenny, have become great close friends with Lois and I. This particular song was on my 1st original CD 'Beyond A Drift' which is made up of mostly piano ballads and instrumentals. When our friends heard it up in Rangeley they asked me if they could not only use it for their website but also if the pianist in their small town church could perform my song for the Sunday services. Of course I gave them full permissions. If it wasn't for them and their beautiful small New England village I would have never composed this Piano ballad. I truly hope you enjoy my composition, 'Rangeley On My Mind'

This song was recorded in Boston Ma. back in 1982 when in the band "Locust". It did receive some airplay and back then was considered heavy rock. Our lead vocalist Billy passed away a few years ago at such a young age ( RIP Brother ) and He had the most absolutely Best Rock'n vocals going! I Hope you enjoy and Rock On~!

LYRICS:
I ALMOST FOUND MY WAY WITH YOU
TRYING TO MAKE IT SOMETHING NEW
QUIETLY WAITING MOSTLY HESITATING
I ALMOST SAID THOSE WORDS TO YOU
I ALMOST DIED TO BE WITH YOU
SADLY THE RED TURNS INTO BLUE
CONTRADICTING THE CIRCUMSTANCE
MAKING UP THIS BAD ROMANCE
I ALMOST DIED TO BE WITH YOU
I ALMOST FOUND MY WAY WITH YOU
TRYING TO MAKE IT SOMETHING NEW
QUIETLY WAITING MOSTLY HESITATING
I ALMOST SAID THOSE WORDS TO YOU
I ALMOST SAID THOSE WORDS TO YOU
I ALMOST CRIED FOR YOU
I ALMOST DIED FOR YOU
I ALMOST SAID THOSE WORDS TO YOU

Hello all, I recorded this about 3 years ago and
a friend suggested I upload simply to share with everyone.
I am playing all instruments, acoustic guitars, piano and strings
as well as the harmonizing vocals. While I was in our band I was
the back up singer, so I am not a lead vocalist, but I'm pleased
enough with the outcome. This is my first uploaded cover,
So I hope you Enjoy my rendition.

Please take a moment to sit back, relax and watch some beautiful video scenes and photos from where my family and I live. During this time of year it becomes a magical experience to view , breath and actually listen to the fresh Autumn Season surrounding you in New Hampshire and throughout New England. People from all over the world come to New Hampshire every year to witness Nature's paintings within the landscape. I composed this ballad in October of 2009 with these thoughts in mind and recently I re-recorded it. I sincerely hope you enjoy this peaceful piano composition I am sharing with you all. Thank you all so very much for all your support and I wish each and everyone all my blessings and peace with you always.

A 'Logic' production ( Odin Prime & Myself).
We wrote this song because we are proud and truly lucky to be 'Free' ! There are so many in this world that do not know the true meaning of "Freedom" and those of us who do realize, Freedom Is NOT Free by any means. We hope this collaboration reflects our thoughts on this matter. This video is meant to be a show of gratitude and by no means does it depict any political views whatsoever! View in HD if you can and full screen is incredible! As always, we hope you enjoy our work and if so Please be sure to comment and rate as well. ~ Wishing you all 'Peace' as always ~ Logic

And of course, All comments will be gratefully appreciated. * Rock on and * Peace to all,
