I was 7 when I sang in public for the first time... I picked up the guitar when I was 16... picked it up more consistently when I turned 32.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Beach Boys.. I was 9 or 10.. Arizona State Fair.. I was with my family.. mom, dad, 2 sisters. I loved the harmonies at that age and loved how they released what seemed to be billions of beach balls to make a beach party.
What gear do you use?
Taylor 214, Takamine, EV767 mics, Bose Performance II, Fender Telecaster, Fender Strat S1. I would probably say my fav is the Bose and Taylor...so far.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
My Dad. I put up with his countless practices and gigs growing up. I fell in love with the rich harmonies of the 50's and 60's
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
The Tammy Z Band. Americana, Folk, Country, Rock, Oldies. In High School, and online. We play many shows.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Eric Clapton, Ani DiFranco, Jewel, Melissa Etheridge, Marvin Gaye, Sugarland, Mary Hoffman & Darin Mahoney, Pandy Raye, Roger Cline and the Peace Makers, Gin Blossoms, and Robert Zappier.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The 1/2 time show for the Phoenix Mercury Game on 7/26/11. There were 5000 people in attendance that night! That was my most memorable performance. The smallest... when I practice in my house with my parrot, Pepper. She is the "smallest" audience that I have but she sings along with me.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Richard Marx... I love his songwriting and voice. When I was 7 or 8. He is a great story teller and his music takes me on a journey.
