I started singing when I was 5 (so I've been told) Haha! My first gig was with my Uncle Bobby Ford's talent showcase entitled "EDGE". I miss those days....
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Earth, Wind & Fire featuring Teena Marie. I think I was 6. (I believe I got contact high) I remember the fancy lights and the rush of excitement....thanks, Mom!
The most memorable concert I've attended (of course) has to be Phil Collins in Sacramento with my Dad, Phil was literally 10 FEET AWAY!!!! *faints* We had nose bleed seats and my Dad noticed an entire section to the left of the stage that was vacant. When we arrived the security guard says, "Hey, you can't go in there." My Dad replies, "#@&! you, our tickets are paid for." So there we are, less than 15 feet away from the stage and during "Sussudio" Phil walks to our vacant side of the stage and I go NUTS!! I start doing some weird dance and get this....Phil starts emulating it!! Most memorable concert, right there.
What gear do you use?
Sonar X1 for recording and production.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonderful, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I am the lead female vocalist for one of Solano County's tightest bands, The Time Bandits. I also feature with several bands in Fairfield, Vacaville, Vallejo, Sacramento and the Bay Area singing blues, rock, r&b, country, etc.
The first band I ever joined was N.V.U.S. with Phil Greene and Bill Mason. I really enjoy featuring with my friends' bands because I love such a wide array of music and it's nice to have the chance to sing it all. I'm extremely blessed to be able to perform with such talented musicians, GO BAY AREA!!!!
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
PHIL COLLINS!!!!!!!! (....but seriously.)
I would choose Phil because of how many times his sultry voice has brought me out of the darkness....for some reason Phil's music has a calming, peace inducing effect on me that I rely on for stressful times in my life. His music also gets me motivated to continue to follow the dream, I would love nothing more than to sing a song with that man, holy smokes!!!! (Would I even be ABLE to sing, lying on the floor passed out from sheer bliss?!) Haha!
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
It was in Las Vegas. I was given the chance to open for R&B groups Immature and 702.
One of my most memorable performances was winning over the notorious Simon Cowell in my American Idol audition....he's definitely a tough cookie, but I crumbled him that day, heh!
The second most memorable moment was playing at my dear friend Bill Mason's memorial at Pepperbelly's in Fairfield California. I sang a couple Led Zeppelin songs accompanied by some of the areas finest musicians. Bill Mason's former band CP Krunt reunited that night and made magic happen....an experience I won't soon forget.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Genesis' 'We Can't Dance' album....without a doubt. If I can't get my hands on that I'm grabbing 'Genesis: Greatest Hits'. I opted for 'We Can't Dance' first since 'Greatest Hits' doesn't include "Fading Distant Lights" or "Driving The Last Spike" which are two of my favorite Genesis songs!
