In elementary school, I had always wrote my own little jingles in music class. Drums put a brief pause on this in 6th grade, when I had begun banging on whatever objects made cool sounds. I have furthered my art in drumming, and continue on the kit to this day, for ~11 years (tagging along with Bosphorus in this past year, 2011).
What was the first concert you ever went to?
The first concert that I attended was to see Children Of Bodom with Lamb Of God headlining. Fear Factory, one of my favorites, and Throwdown also supported the act. This occurred on Nov. 13 at Saratoga Winners in Latham, NY.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
I would consider myself to having two major leaps, which bring me to where I currently reside as a musician. The first point being the time when I started listening to metal. The metal side of me added aggression to my playing. This aggressive playing, however, is not for everyone. I begun listening to bands like Spocks Beard and Porcupine tree within the past few years, giving me a much more organic side to my drumming. The latest influence I have is with classical compositions. I am a huge fan of composers like John Williams or Danny Elfman.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I have filled in for many bands, mostly being metal bands, american influenced and European influenced. I have yet to find the perfect band, to be a part of, to suite my musical needs.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
I may be a drummer, but of all musicians to have a jam with, I would have to choose another drummer. I feel that it would be very enjoyable to jam with Gavin Harrison, a drummer who I share a similar style with. If I had to choose a band to jam with, I would choose Angra.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
I cannot give any numbers, but the largest crowd I played for was a sold out crowd at an old theater venue. This venue, of course, had no theater seating, but it was quite large and was very active on that night.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
If I was stuck with one album of my choice, for the rest of my life, I would choose any older In Flames album. I have yet to become sickened of the sound or any song from one of their older albums.
