My main guitars are a 2008 Dean RC7G and a 1992 Carvin DC145C. I also try to play bass and sometimes both with 10 and 11 string Santucci Treblebass'. I have dabbled on and off with touchstyle for a few years with a Box Guitar's SRB-640 12 string. I grew up on a 1986 Fender Contemporary Strat, the 1 humbucker version, which I still have. So I really dig those MIJ Strats and other Superstrats.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
My good friend Sean, is probably my biggest influence. Growing up together on guitar, we always had a friendly competition to "out do" each other..it made us a lot better players..I'm still catching up to him though. lol.
Shawn Lane is also a big influence on me. In the summer of 1996, while atttending the Atlanta Institute of Music...with Sean.. I was fortunate enough to see Hellborg/Lane/Sipe perform twice. A few months later in October, I had the to opportunity to get a personal lesson with Shawn! Seeing him play up close was incredible! He played the neck like he was playing a piano. He really didn't need to pick at all.. The picking that he was doing was just to accent the odd note groupings,it seemed. No one has, or ever will be as, fast as Shawn...and with equal taste and passion. I work on that hammer on legato style a lot...(major understatement)
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I've performed in several local cover bands as a Lead Guitarist. I've also gigged as a Bassist, in a cover band and an original Death Metal band. In most bands I end up doing some light keyboard work but I'm not a Keyboardist by any means... I write original material but have never put a band together with it. I do some programming and recording of my original work.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Anyone...you can always learn something from someone else..
