Perhaps, I was always a musician, because I remember hearing a certain tune (which I won't name here), when my mom took me to a Christmas party. Over the years that song stuck in my head. Several years later i was speaking to my mother about that incident and she told my that I was only 2 years and 9 or 10 months old.
So yeah,.... i must have been born a musician.
What gear do you use?
I have a set of Stell drums made by the great Ellie Mannette, (handmade) from 1977. Since then I have had about three instruments, but this is the only one i like to play.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Listening to guys like Charles Wright, Booker T Jones, The Meters, King Curtis, EW&F, Ray Holmon, Herbie Hancock, Motown, Stax, Volt, etc.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
John Coltrane, would have been the one, as the depth of his music always blew me away. But at least i got to jam with his wife Alice and one of his sons who also played sax.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Hard to say, as I've performed at quite a few major festivals, like the new orleans Jazz Festival, L. A. Street Scene, Peninsular Music Festival, Riviera Maya Jazz festival, etc.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
That's not a fair question, as there are too many to choose from.
