Surfing with the Alien (Joe Satriani) Cover by Mitch Alderlieste
Uploaded 1 year ago
How long have you been playing?
http://www.youtube.com/user/rockculturecovers?feature=mhee please subscribe to my youtube channel. Originally played drums when I was about 12, and picked up the guitar a couple of years ago.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
I've been to small concerts around Blenheim, but recently I won tickets on the radio to the G3 (Joe Satriani Steve Vai and Steve Lukather) concert in Wellington this year (2012). I sailed over to Wellington and then entered a guitar competition to win a backstage pass. I then won against people in thier late 20's, I was stoked. I talked mainly to Joe about guitars and practice routines and stuff. Was an awesome experience.
What gear do you use?
At the moment I play an ESP LTD F-250 guitar, but I am now looking at getting an Ibanez JS guitar after meeting the famous Joe satriani, and watching him play live. I use two types of amp. My main and favourite is the Marshall 250 DFX into a Behringer BG412H cab, and the other amp I use is a CRATE.My Favorite guitar effects pedal is the signature Vox Joe Satriani Satchurator distortion. I have my own recording gear (pro tools, interfaces ect), also have Ludwig drum kit and heaps of other equipment.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Joe Satriani and Steve Vai definitely inspired me to pick up the guitar. I was just amazed at the sounds they could produce. My playing has definitely been shaped because of Joe and Steve. I like a heap of other classic rock bands. My Dad really got me into this type of music.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I have been in many bands in the past at school and played at the smoke free rock quest and stuff. I'm in a new band now and it's turning out great. We are going to do rock quest this year and take to the stage with full intentions....that's for sure.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
As you would have figured... JOE SATRIANI and STEVE VAI :D
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The biggest audience was at rock quest, a couple of hundred I think. The smallest is school assemblies and stuff.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
probably the latest Foo Fighters album Back and Forth. It just sounds awesome and the songs are great!

This is the acoustic version of a song I wrote while in my old band. Quite a special/personal song to me. It talks about a heap of things that were going on around the time of it being created. My bro Gennaro and I have started an acoustic duo and we are looking for a band name. We're open to suggestions :) It talks about a heap of things that were going on around the time of it being created. It would mean HEAPS if you could watch it and tell me what you think. Enjoy!

This is one of those fun sort of songs that I wrote while I was recording it. It's only a rough demo. Not fully EQ'd but give it a listen and see what you think :) Thanks.

Here's a song/piece of music I made. It's called 'Lucid Notion' which means clear thoughts, and the genius that came up with that name was Jack Gent :). Everything in this song is done just with a guitar and a TC Electronic flashback delay pedal. Enjoy :D

Always with me, Always with you, Joe Satriani guitar cover. Recorded the music using pro tools and, the video with usual camera. I'm running from an ESP LTD F-250 into a satchurator pedal into a CRATE amp. Would really have preferred to have run through the Marshall but the output transistors are blown so it's away getting fixed. This cover is not "note for note" but I did try my best to get it close, tried to get it in best sync as I could, I've been playing for two years.
