Been "hearing music in my head" since I was 5 years old.I did my first gig when I was 10 years old. Played Baritone Horn in the Marching Band. Played Trumpet in the Jazz Band & Concert Band. Played Bass guitar in the Pep Band. Dropped it all to play guitar.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
In 1976, Steve Taylor took me to my first concert: Thin Lizzy & Queen at Cole Fieldhouse U. of Maryland. I had just become a BIG fan of Queen. Too bad Thin Lizzy was the warm up act. Thin Lizzy blew Queen off the stage....it was embarassing. I saw Queen 3 more times & they were excellent everytime....they dropped having an opening act.
What gear do you use?
I own several Ibanez guitars, however my main guitar is a modifed Raven RP-450.
This guitar is basically a PRS Hollowbody clone. I also use a Roland JC-120 amp & several "boutique" effects pedals. I am also an endorsee for Sonic Fusion Pedals.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
When I first started playing guitar, I was listening to & playing the music of: Ohio Players, Kool & The Gang, Mandrill, EWF,The Isley Brothers & Funkadelic.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Currently not in a band. I do alot of "sub" work in the Washington D.C. metro area.
I am currently looking to commit to & join a working band that plays 4 to 6 times a month.
I have been playing in bands professionally since 1980. I have worked with regional & national acts.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
I'd love to jam with Steely Dan or The Allman Brothers. These 2 bands cover alot of ground, musicially speaking. Steely Dan is the ultimate. The do EVERYTHING excellent.
The Allman Brothers play a Jazzy-Bluesy brand of Southern Rock.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
I played at The U.of Maryland once in the 1980's. Must have been 2K people there.
Most memorable was playing a Reggae gig at The Bayou in Washington D.C.
I was in a band that opened for Yellow Man, Culture, Steel Pulse & 3rd World.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Desert Island album: "Royal Scam" by Steely Dan. This is a album full of KILLER guitar playing & excellent song writing.
