When Matt send me his first raw idea of this song, I knew immediately that this song had a double meaning for me, as always he allowed me to start building up the song and make arrangements for us to continue, only this time I wanted to do it differently, so I asked him to make a piano and a guitar track with exactly the same feeling within it as his first idea for this piece, and when he send them, I started building around those 2 tracks, for some weird reason his 2 tracks were exactly what I needed to express myself towards all people who supported me and my family so much after I suffered from a stroke 3 weeks ago. I am slowly recovering, although things have changed dramatically, I wanted to go back making music as soon as possible to get things out of my system, and maybe help and comfort others at the same time. Why this piece is build up the way it is, and what it means for me: Part 1: The moment I found myself laying at intensive care, and everything go so slowly around me, and nothing seems to get within me anymore, you’re only connected to the machine to monitor you all the time. You can’t do the things anymore you wish to do so much, and only resting and relaxing is required. You try to assure your loved ones that everything is OK now, but they saw the difference on me, which I didn’t realize myself yet, but I didn’t have the power to worry about that at all. Part 2: After I came home I couldn’t do so many things, I couldn’t sit up long, only walking and laying down was OK for me, plus I moved along so slowly, and couldn’t talk to express myself the way I wanted. I got scared I wouldn’t be able to make music the way I wanted, so I tried playing around a bit, and asked Matt to send me a completely new piece we were suppose to make for the docu “The Frysk” anyway, I needed to test myself if I was still able to do exactly the same as I could before, or even better. Part 3: Although I was struggling with my tiredness, and things didn’t want to go as I had it in my head, the moment I put those tracks into my machine, I just listened many times and finally became calm, the song evolved in my head as a symphony, so slowly I inserted track for track like a jigsaw puzzle. The song became longer, and the more I worked the more emotions came out, which somehow also relaxed me as well, when creating music touches me so deeply, that’s the proof for myself I go the right way. Part 4: Realising how lucky I was, it obviously wasn’t my time yet, and although the title of this song may apply something different, I am still alive, and it did make me think differently about my life and the things I worried about so much lately, I know I can’t change it, the situation forced me to adjust and go back to my own self and my roots, and because I have to back down now, I also learned have to enjoy and appreciate much more the things I have, and the talents given to me to express myself in music to help others too. I’ve also learned I can’t take all the problems on my shoulders, and what my own limits are, and exactly that gave me the space within my soul and mind to hear the beauty of Matt’s raw composition, which made me hear a full orchestra play it, now it was my “quest” to create that “Orchestral sound” Part 5: The final part became an Epic Crescendo, and is the conquering feeling I experienced when the first take of this song took shape, and finally after 3 days work I had conquered my fear, I knew I didn’t loose the touch, and at the same time I could feel the intense power of this piece which was in my head from the start, and being able to get it all out and creating this orchestral sound was like a therapy for me. Please don’t take me wrong, I know I am not fully cured, and I still have to take medicines for the rest of my life, but I know that the will to fight back, gave me some of the power to do what I love to do most, and for that I am very grateful to my family and friends for their support, patience and believe in me. It may still takes a lot of time to recover fully, but slowly I get back and getting stronger each day. For everybody in the world, if this has happened to one of your loved ones or friends too, please be patient with them, allow them to do things in their own pace, that’s the most important thing, we don’t need your pity, treat us the way you’ve always done before, only things will go a bit slower, and although everybody experience this differently, if possible we just need to recover, and that takes time and acceptance. Allow them to talk out and share their emotions with you, they need your shoulders to cry on, more then your advice, allow them to empty their pain and sorrows first until their strong enough to fight themselves. In my case, I am lucky that I have creating music as therapy, and great friends like Matt allowing me to work with them on their compositions, and give me total free hand to do with it what I think it needs. I sincerely hope that many people can find the same comfort and relaxation I got creating it, and listening to this piece does relax me very much too. I also want to thank everybody for their warm words of support towards me and my family. Composers: Matt Baker & John Styles Arrangement: John Styles & Matt Baker Instruments: Matt Baker & John Styles Producer: John Styles We hope you’ll enjoy our song, and we’re sincerely appreciate your comments and support, John and Matt.

Welcome to our new song for the 'Legends' sound set, 'In the Shadow of the Moon' , which is planned to be used for the docu / mini serie “The Frysk”, we hope you will enjoy this pre-release just as much as we did making it, and as always we really appreciate your comments, advices and critics on our music. Matt’s explaining his composition: This track is inspired by the beauty that is created on the passing of the full moon, when the night is illuminated by the wash of pale yellow light when the sun is reflected from the Lunar surface. I had originally planned to write a story about the love between two fantasy creatures who dwell deep in a dark woods, only to venture out together when the sun goes down, 'In the Shadow of the Moon'. But whilst composing this track I researched a little about the moon and how it is revered by almost every culture on our planet and has long been linked to so many myths, legends and folklore. So what is a 'Full Moon', well after researching I discovered it was not necessarily what I understood it to be. (Following Info from http://www.fullmoon.info/index.html) A Full Moon is when the sun and the moon are facing opposite, being in opposite direction from an earth perspective. This might feel astonishing if one imagines that the moon is on one side, the sun on the other and the earth in between? Shouldn’t the earth throw a shadow onto the moon? Bingo – this is exactly what she does! But only when the moon is exactly on the earth orbit, the so called “ecliptic”. When this takes place, we speak of a lunar eclipse! When the moon is above or underneath the ecliptic (which is mostly the case), one side of the moon is completely illuminated and uninterrupted from the earth’s shadow projection of the sun, and can be viewed from our planet as full moon. Remember [1] Full moon means: sun and moon opposite each other, earth in between. Remember [2] When the moon is on the ecliptic & shadow of earth onto moon & lunar eclipse. This is why it makes complete sense that a lunar eclipse can only take place at full moon! This website is very interesting a also covers a lot of information about the beliefs, cultures and experiences related to the Moon. So in respect to my original inspiration, it is fair to say we are all actually the focus of my track. So next time your share a magical moonlight night with the ones that you love, please try to take a moment to bathe in the moonlight and enjoy this amazing spectacle, and perhaps listen to this track and let yourself drift away into your own personal fantasy. Composed by: Matt Baker All Instruments: Matt Baker & John Styles Arranged by: John Styles & Matt Baker Produced by: John Styles We also plan to rework this track into a song with 'Euphoriqa' as the subject has really given us some great ideas for a new song. Thanks for listening, all the best for now, kind regards Matt & John :)

This is our new original song already (2nd version) 'Princess of the Golden Realm' , by Matt Baker and John Styles, I’ve tried to enhance the dynamics even more, and improved a few instruments, Matt and I hope you’ll enjoy this relaxing and uplifting journey we’ve created for you. Matt’s explanation: 'Princess of the Golden Realm' who lives in a beautiful enchanted forest in complete harmony with the other creatures that dwell there. We hope this track is a contrast to the others in our themes collection and is intended a real 'Chill-Out' track, which will hopefully relax you and take you on a gentle journey into her woodland realm. The track was inspired by the piano track which I wrote whilst watching my family enjoy their Christmas holiday, a very happy and chilled day when we were all at ease, total bliss. This is also the first track which we have used the amazing 'Shavani Elven Choir' vst, which we very much recommend, as it is fantastic and really offers some great tools for vocal reproductions/scoring. John and I worked this track in the same way we normally work, sending rough mix's track files to one another, whilst discussing changes and options over the phone or Skype. This way we are able to evolve various aspects of the composition until we are both happy. We hope you enjoy your journey into the 'Golden Realm' and would love to hear your comments and feedback. We’re happy to give you our version of “All I want for Christmas is You” a cover from Mariah Carey, and again Matt and I wanted to exchange all instruments used in the original song, for orchestral instruments (as usual). Then we’ve asked Daphne Braaksma to do the vocals on this song, and although this was a though one for all of us to crack, we hope you think we’ve managed, and we’re very grateful towards Daphne that she excepted this difficult task, Matt and I are very proud of her, we all hope you’ll enjoy this version too. A story so true, so many people trying to be with their loved ones for the holidays, and so many people can’t because of different reasons, or they’re abroad, or missed their flight, train or bus, it happens every year again, and I am sure for those people this song comes to mind. So let’s hope just this ones, everybody will make it to be with their loved ones all over the world. Please also look around for people who are all by themselves, show them you care for them too. We want to wish you all, A MERRY CHRISTMAS, and a very happy and healthy NEW YEAR. ‘The Voyage Home’ We want you enjoy the 2nd version of our track ‘The Voyage home’, a journey we created for you all. I revised the 1st production to increase the dynamics of all instruments track by track all over again. Matt’s thoughts: This track has been inspired by reflection we make in our daily lives, about those we love and may wish we could be with. The voyage, or journey home may be and physical journey, to overcome the elements or great distances, survival. But can also be the mental journey we make into our own thoughts and precious memories at times when we need to find strength or allow ourselves to feel. This track was first devised whilst I was visiting John in Holland, when we really got a chance to work on some ideas together and understand each others style of composition. As I travelled home to be with my family I really felt these feelings, even more so as I knew for sure that John & I are going to make some great tracks together and hope to work on some really exciting projects. “Peace at Last” is a new song I made for my sister Joja (Roos) who died a few days ago. I am trying to express my feelings and my last words towards her, but I am speechless at the same time. I know deep in my heart that now she finally has peace and she isn’t suffering anymore, only for that I am happy for her, but I also notice and experience the suffering and the loss of all her loved ones has to endure. I know how much she suffered and had to fight her pain everyday over and over again, now that’s over and Roos finally has her peace, I love you dear sister and you’ll remain in our hearts forever. This song is for you my dear Joja, I am sure we’ll meet again, Rest In Peace. Composed, Arranged and Produced: John Styles

Hi there and welcome to our new track "The Giants Lair". I got the idea for this track whilst John & I worked together in Holland, but I wasn't sure what is was going to be about. Whilst working on the track we got an idea for our very own fairy tale, "The Giants Lair". Our story goes like this............ Once upon a time a witch was venturing in a dark wood collecting secret ingredients for her potions, when she was captured by a giant. She struggled to break free, but failed, so offered the Giant a deal he couldn't refuse. If he would set her free she'd grant him a very special spell. He had wished for years that a beautiful maiden would fall in love with him. So he agreed to set the witch free and used the spell to bewitch a young princess. The kingdom where she lived fell into chaos, as the princess had been in love with a young prince, who had planned to ask her for her hand in marriage, when the spell took hold. No one was able to stop her and she left the kingdom and started her journey across the land to join her new 'true love' the Giant King. The Prince vowed to the king that he would stop this terrible union even if it cost him his own life. He set off on a perilous adventure to capture the witch and take her to the giants lair and reverse the spell. Will he make it..................? This is now a 2nd version of the track, we have added some additional string harmonies to add extra texture towards the end. Hi there, Welcome to our latest track 'There's a Tree on a Hill' which I have been fortunate to finish as an instrumental piece with John Styles. This instrumental version is a pre-release to a full song version which we plan to release at a later date. This track was inspired by an amazing spectacle I witnessed one night whilst camping just outside Bala in North Wales. As I sat watching the sunset, lines of clouds covered the sky, illuminated almost purple by the beautiful light cast by the setting sun. Through a single break in the clouds a beam of sunlight shone down on a small tree that sat along on top of a hill in the distance. It took me some time to actually accept that this was real as the small twisted tree seemed to glow. This lasted for a considerable time as the sun slowly sank beneath the distant horizon. I can't remember how long this lasted for, but remember thinking afterward that this type of amazing visual spectacle would have really inspired all sorts of tales and fantasies in ancient times, a magical tree, or perhaps a gateway to another world. The image I've picked for this track doesn't really match the beauty I witnessed that night, but I felt it was a nice picture that captured some of the qualities of the small tree, which I think was a Hawthorn Tree. For me it had a very significant meaning which I am not able to write about at this, as it has a deep personal meaning which is too sensitive, but can say this moment inspired this track and lyrics which will follow on the full song version. I would like to thank John Styles for his help and guidance with this track as I would not have been able to have completed it without his kind help, skill and support as a friend. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it, comments and feedback most welcome. This song is a collab between Megan McCarthy, John Styles and Matt Baker, and John and Matt created an orchestral movement incl. guitar and synt tracks around Megan’s piano solo (read Megan’s description below), and corrected some slight mistakes on her piano play (on Megans request), we all hope you’ll enjoy this version just as we did making it. As Megan already tried to explain on her original song: http://soundcloud.com/megsmusicjourney/never-alone-2-by-megs-mccarthy it’s a simple slightly sad piano solo/comp but with dances of hope, for all those people who ever feel alone/lonely, thinking of you xx) Megan’s original description why she made this song: This is a piano solo and originally created for someone I love dearly, whom, after going through some difficulties, found himself surrounded by people, yet was very alone and lonely. I wanted to create something for him, so that he could know that he was never alone, and convey the sadness that this loneliness can entail, but also, to try and portray 'hints of dancing' or hope. There is a difference between being 'alone' and 'lonely'. Everyone experiences both to a degree at some points in their lives, some more than others. Being 'alone' does not always mean that one feels 'lonely', and one can take 'time out' or feel at peace within themselves. Likewise, feeling 'lonely', does not always mean that a person is 'alone' and they may be surrounded by people, yet can still feel a sense of deep loneliness. Originally titled: 'Thinking of You', I wanted to broaden what this song tried to reveal through emotion, for anyone who experiences such, with an understanding of, and empathy for, what it can feel like to be both alone and lonely in this world. Sadness can dominate, hope can be diminished, but throughout such times, there may be glimpses of hope and changes for the better in a journey towards feelings of greater inner peace and acceptance. Sometimes all it takes, is for one person to show that they care, and to be there, in any way that they can, when it matters the most. This is what this relatively simple song hoped to present, almost raw emotion, and not 'perfection' in technical proficiency, and it particularly reflects in a way, an old adage I love (or words to this effect): .... 'You may not 'be' the world, but you may mean the world to someone' :-) No matter how we may feel at times in life, if ever we feel lonely, and perhaps without hope, we need to know that we are never truly alone, and whilst sad in nature, I hope that the small 'dances of hope' shine through, and for those who listen, to know that someone is thinking of you x Composer: Megan McCarthy Orchestral movement and Arrangement: John Styles and Matt Baker Piano solo: Megan McCarthy All other instruments: John Styles and Matt Baker Producer: John Styles

I composed this song after so many happenings in such a short time, I read and experienced the growing indifference, greed, jealousy and hate what’s effecting the world around us lately, and sometimes it seems we all just follow the crowd, we don’t even notice we’re doing the same thing, although we don’t wanto do it. It seems we can’t talk the same language or being able to care for other, it even seems like we’re slowly drifting apart from each other, and we don’t even notice it. This song is a sort wakeup call to everybody, so we’ll see what’s happening, because I know this is not what we want at all, it’s almost like we’re in a sort of trance, and we let everything we believe in slip away. I just try to spread out the positive energy we’re suppose to embrace, that’s what I tried to put into this piece. Dear Friends, I wanto ask you all to pray for the recovery of our dear friend Megan McCarthy who suffered from a heartattack, and is still recovering in the hospital in Adelaide Australia. I want to dedicate this beautiful piece of music that Megan composed and was the last piece we all worked on with her. A little history; this song was composed as “Just Emotions” by Megan, while Megan and I were both working on new songs, and we had a very long talk together about our music and what it does to other people. I suggested another arrangement to her, which she liked even better, and we both decided to give it another title “Touching Souls” (as it is released now). As Megan stated back then after our talk together, she finally realised what this song was all about for her. After Megan replayed her piano track, and I added another piano track to it (as a sort answer), we “Quenya Projects” started to complete this song with a orchestral movement in it, by Ralf, Matt and Me. Later Matt and me also added other instruments to it as well. When Megan gave her approval to this new arrangement, I started to give all the sounds the proper feel and so you will TOUCH to it, as this was very important to Megan. Unfortunedly now Megan can’t tell us what she thinks, but I promise you (knowing Megan) this is what she wants it to sound like, as Megan told me herself: We are indeed “Touching Souls” Therefore I am proud to dedicate this song to her with love, peace and respect for my little Megan (S.H.) I was inspired to write 'Love & Hope' as I reflected about how lucky I have been in my life to experience love. Sometimes it is easy to forget the love and care others have shown us as we are busy rushing from one thing to another, always on the go. We need to be reminded to stop! and take time to reflect on the love, affection, kindness and caring from different people, we have experienced at different stages of our life. As we grow from childhood, as we become adults, form our own families, as we become parents and as we age, love plays such an important part of shaping who we are and how we treat those around us, from the closest family members to a complete stranger in a time of trouble. As I reflected I realised that I see 'Hope' as loves partner through life’s journey, it is always there hoping for more love, hoping to make life better for those we love, hope for better things for friends and others and hoping we can be strong for those who need our love when they are weak or can't see a way through. So please take a moment to enjoy this tune and perhaps reflect upon on the 'Love' you have felt and those who gave it so freely and the happiness you felt; and to consider your 'Hopes' for those you love who may need you.
