How long have you been playing?
I've been a bassist since I was 13 years old, Ive been playing for over 30 years, I wanted to be a guitarist, but my first band insisted I play bass on my guitar! I've never looked back!
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Rock against Racism Carnival 2 at Brockwell Park in 1978. saw Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Misty in Roots and Sham 69, I remember Jimmy Pursey (Sham 69) gettting up on stage to insist that the Skinheads in the crowd in their 'Millwall FC' red Harrrington Jackets 'were not racists'
What gear do you use?
I have a 1972 Fender Telecaster Bass, a 2003 Fender Jazz, and a unique Staccato Bass made by Chris Jagger (Micks Brother and a great musician)
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
I was a Beatles baby! but regarding the Bass, I started listening to punk at 13. J J Burnel from the Stranglers was a big influence. Later as I became in to 'Slap' Funk players like Marcus Miller, Nathaniel Phillips, Aaron Mills and Larry Graham, My favourite Funk finger style players are Rocco Prestoria, and Paul Jackson.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I've been in more bands than I can remember in genres from Punk to Reggae, Funk and Hip Hop! Currently the 'Dirty Soul Rockers' who fuse all the styles I played in my career so far!
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
There are Three, for the same reason . They all acheived true freedom of expression on their instruments. John Coltrane, Jimmy Hendrix and Miles Davis. ( I could have listed all the great drummers! )
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
I think the biggest between 10 and 20,000 at Glastonbury, the smallest was when I was in a 10 piece funk band and we played to 3 people and a dog.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Seargent Peppers by the Beatles. I've never got bored of it, but this is a silly question to have to answer as I've got over 2,000 LPs much less mp3s!
