I was 10 years old when I picked up the bass, playing in a school band. I had been teaching myself for about four years when I found a good teacher two years ago and now I attend the Kuula-opisto music institute here in Vaasa since fall 2012.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
I've went to some music festivals with my parents in younger ages, but nothing really memorable about them, except for Rockperry in Vaasa for three years ago. Backyard Babies, Turbonegro and Apocalyptica were pretty nice.
What gear do you use?
I use a LTD F-104 bass and a 15" Coxx CB-65 bass amp. I also have a short scale Squire Bronco Bass, but the pickup is broken and I haven't minded to fix it.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
I have listened to Red Hot Chili Peppers pretty much because of the exquisite harmony between basslines and guitar riffs and the challenge given to the player by their songs.
I found the Californication album in my house one day, I think it's my older brother's, and especially fell for the track "Californication", the track's bassline is just splendid.
Toto is awesome too, but I'm not much for the bass in their songs. Nice groove but not really challenging.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I currently play in four bands, where one is hosted by a music institute here in Vaasa, the Kuula-opisto and one at Rokkikoulu, an organization led by the city of Vaasa. The two other bands I play in consist of friends. The genres played in all four band are mainly rock, or classical rock, jazz and blues, and also some pop music in our own rendition.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Flea for sure! His style is just so uncompetably awesome!
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Probalby in school in the spring of 2012, little more than 300 people cramped into a small gymnasium. I played in a event we call Music caf. That band was formed just for that event.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
This one is hard... I'd probably choose System of a Down's album "Toxicity", because it has only great tracks and it was the first SOAD album i bought.
