I have been playing for 16 years, started when I was 6, and I became a musician because I was always passionate about it.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
The first concert I ever went to was Aerosmith in 2001 at the Centurytel center in Bossier City, Louisiana.
What gear do you use?
For Guitar: I have a couple amps that I use. For tracking I use a Swart Atomic Space Tome MK2 Head, and for tours I use a 65amps Stone Pony. No combos, all head and cabinet. My cabinets are always one twelve greenbacks, and I am a huge fan of the solid core speaker wire. I have a slew of pedals for all different things, but my favorites are my Analogman King of Tone, my Diamond Memory Lane 2, my Xotic effects EP Booster, and my JHS Klon Klone. I love Teles so on the road, I have a couple of Fender Telecasters set up with Lollar pickups (different type pickups for different situations) and another Fender Telebration with TV Jones pickups. At home I also have a Yamaha AES 1500 hollowbody, 77 Les Paul Special, and a Rickenbacher 620 stereo model that are mostly used for tracking. For acoustics I have a Gibson Blues King, a 46 Kay, and a McPhearson experimental model.
For Violin: I have my acoustic violin for orchestral and studio stuff, I don't know much about it, but I've had it for years. i also have a red Barcus Berry bicentennial electric violin that I use on tours and for live gigging.
I have a ton of other stuff, but that is all my favorites.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Has to be Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin. I had a lot of influences from other guitar players, but Jimmy Page is the reason I wanted to play guitar, where I steal most of my licks, and the reason i do what I do today.
I like Jimmy Page because he was was terribly talented and sloppy at the same time. A perfect mixture for Rock 'n' Roll in my opinion.
I got into him because I was looking for bands to get into and a my brother gave me one of his old tapes that he had of them.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I am in bands and currently tour internationally for certain artists.
I currently tour nationally and internationally for country artist Neal McCoy. I auditioned for this gig.
I am also in an all original band called in The Critics that plays original rock and electronic music. We all met through mutual friends.
Neal McCoy plays 120-150 shows a year nationally and internationally.
The Critics play only a couple shows a year and mostly just record.
I also occasionally play for the band Stephen Speaks.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
I would choose to jam with Django Reinhardt because he did so much with so little.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The biggest crowd I have ever performed to was around 80,000 people. My most memorable performance was getting to play with Brady and Brian Blade in the same night.
The smallest show I have ever done was in a crummy bar in Louisiana to 3 people.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Oh man... It would either have to be John Mayer's Continuum, Harry Connick Jr's She album, or The Beatles White Album. Those are the three albums that changed the way I look at music.
