How long have you been playing?
I grew up in a musical family and sang from a very early age. My Mother played piano, accordion, organ and guitar. My oldest brother played almost all the string instruments very well. I have a brother and two sisters who played guitar and as a young girl I played violin for a short while. We sang gospel, early rock n roll and sang along to the Motown sound. I was in girls choir and accapella and in college studied music for one year.

What was the first concert you ever went to?
I went to a Knights of columbus hall and heard Bob Segar. He was fantastic!!
What gear do you use?
I have a Yamaha Portable Grand Piano that I am tinkering with but that is not where my talent lies. My voice is my best instrument. I have a 5 octive + vocal range and I am always striving to improve the quality, strength, color, timbre, etc.
I use a Shure Microphone as well as an MXL 569 Mogami mic. I have a Yamaha board and use Cakewalk. So far it suits me just fine.
For years I have used a Teac reel-to-reel and have a lot of old tracks.

What are you looking for from Fandalism?
I have found it!!! Great friends, amazing musicians from all over the world and a chance to collaborate on some really good music!!
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
My family. Motown, the radio and gospel singing where I went to church.
I first got into Linda Ronstadt (my first song with a band was 'Desperado'), Olivia Newton-John, then Pat Benetar, Barbara Streisand, Stevie Nicks, Anne Murray, Patti Smythe, Crissy Hines of The Pretenders, The Motels, Heart, Celine Dion, Martina McBride, Brenda Lee, Patsy Cline, Journey, Juice Newton, The Ronettes, ABBA, Alison Krause, The Bee Gee's, Bette Midler, Bob Seger, The Eagles, Kansas, Chicago, Smokey Robinson, Willie Nelson, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Carol King, Carie Underwood, Celtic Woman, Roy Orbison, Elton John, Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton, Il Divo (who always makes me cry), Isreal Kamakawiwole, KD Lang (awesome voice) Lea Salonga, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Queen, The Righteous Brother, Simon & Garfunkel, Seals & Croft, Sarah McLachlan, a Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebo, Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, Mama Cass Elliot, and on and on....
Three years ago I fell in love with Opera and Broadway Musicals. I love the vocals of Jackie Evancho and Susan Boyle. And the world lost a great singer with Eva Cassidy. She was so good!

Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I am not currently in a band, but I am looking for the opportunity to sing professionally again more than the occasional thing I do now. I have been in several bands including one in the Detroit area. We were called 'Nightwind'.
I would love to do more shows. I love recording and I love performing live. Simply put...I love to sing!!

What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
My largest audience was at a real estate convention and the audience was about 1500 people. I have had several memorable performances. Some of my favorites are when the audience is inattentive and I am able to make them quiet down and listen. That is very rewarding and exciting.
The smallest audience was probably 2 people. It was a slow night, but it was still fun and they enjoyed my singing!

You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
This is an impossible question. So many albums. It would be a double album for sure. I think so many vocalists are perfection on their songs, but I wouldn't be able to select only one. Impossible! Too many types of music, too many fabulous singers, too many sweet violins, saxaphones, guitars, pianos, steel guitars and .......
I might select an instruemental album so I could sing the songs and I could write new lyrics to the music and change the melodies, etc. That might be the most entertaining and fun and comforting if I was all alone. Singing is my sanity and my joy!

Nancy Burridge sings the classic Ave Maria
Vocal by Nancy Burridge. Composed by Franz Schubert in 1825 as part of his Opus 52, a setting of seven songs from Walter Scott's popular epic poem The Lady of the Lake, loosely translated into German.
It has become one of Schubert's most popular works, recorded by a wide variety and large number of singers, under the title of Ave Maria, in arrangements with various lyrics which commonly differ from the original context of the poem. It was arranged in three versions for piano by Franz Liszt.

The song was, in some respect, an "answer" by Carole to her ex-boyfriend's (Neil Sedaka) recording of "Oh, Carol". It has been recorded by many artists and was ranked among Rolling Stone 's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time at #126. O Holy Night - All Vocals by Nancy Burridge, Wishing you a Merry Christmas Season!
"O Holy Night"... read more ("Cantique de Noël") is a well-known Christmas carol composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to the French poem "Minuit, chrétiens" (Midnight, Christians) by Placide Cappeau (1808–1877). Cappeau, a wine merchant and poet, had been asked by a parish priest to write a Christmas poem. Unitarian minister John Sullivan Dwight, editor of Dwight's Journal of Music, created a singing edition based on Cappeau's French text in 1855. In both the French original and in the two familiar English versions of the carol, the text reflects on the birth of Jesus and of mankind's redemption.

Nancy Burridge singing Memory, from the Broadway Musical, Cats.
"Memory", often incorrectly referred to as "Memories", is a show tune from the 1981 Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats sung by the character Grizabella, a one-time glamour cat who is now a shell of her former self. The song is a nostalgic remembrance of her glorious past and a declaration of her wishes to start a new life. Sung briefly in the first act and in full near the end of the show, "Memory" is the climax of the musical, and by far its most popular and well-known song.

Nancy Burridge & Patrick Collard The Strength In You
This is an original song by Patrick Collard written for a friend whose Father had passed away.
It is a tribute to that rare friendship that if we are fortunate enough to experience we can consider that we are rich indeed. Bravo Patrick!
The Strength In You - Patrick Collard
When the night comes down he's a memory,
Every shadow on your wall, every sound, every face you see
And you miss the touch of his love so much
And the heart where that love grew,
But you'll know what you always knew,
He's the strength in you.
Who can know the loss, how your heart still bleeds,
Or the measure of your loneliness and the anger that it feeds,
Who can fill the space, who can take the place?
Of a heart that was so true,
But you'll know what you always knew,
He's the strength in you.
What use are all my words if I can't share your pain?
You were always there for me and I'd like to do the same,
I feel so empty now,
I'd like to help but I don't know how,
But I think you always knew, That I drew
All my strength from you.
Sorrows pass as your feelings grow,
Hold on to the memory but let the sadness go,
When the hurt is gone and you're feeling strong
And you let the love come through,
Then you'll know what you always knew
He's the strength in you
Now when the night comes down he's a memory,
Every shadow on your wall, every sound, every face you see
And you miss the touch of his love so much
And the heart where that love grew,
But you'll know what you always knew,
He's the strength in you.
And though you miss the touch of his love so much
And the heart where that love grew,
Now you know what you always knew,
He's the strength in you.
But you'll know what you always knew,
Yes, he's the strength in you.

Nancy Burridge - The Music Of The Night
This is the original version written by Andrew Lloyd Webber for Sarah Brightman. It is not the version sang by the ohantom in the Phantom of The Opera.
The Music of The Night - Phantom of The Opera
Night time sharpens, heightens each sensation
Darkness stirs and wakes imagination
Silently the senses abandon their defenses
Helpless to resist the notes I write
For I compose the music of the night
Slowly, gently, night unfurls it's splendour
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender
Turn your face away from the garish light of day
Turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light
And listen to the music of the night
Close you eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams
Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before
Close your eyes, let your spirit start to soar
And you'll live as you've never lived before
Softly, deftly, music shall caress you
Hear it, feel it, secretly posess you
Open up your mind,
Let your fantasies unwind
In this darkness that you know you cannot fight
The darkness of the music of the night
Let your mind start a journey through a strange, new world
Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before
Let your soul take you where you long to be!
Only then can you belong to me
Floating, falling, sweet intoxication
Touch me, trust me, savour each sensation
Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in
To the power of the music that I write
The power of the music of the night
You alone can make my song take flight
Help me make the music of the night
