I've been singing all my life, but in 2004 I started to do it professionally.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
I went to see Citizen Cope in 2010 with my honey and my dad. It was awesome, but it would have been better if he (Greenwood) had been sober.
What gear do you use?
I have a purple Washburn guitar (like the one my daddy uses) and a beautiful Yamaha 88 key P95 electric piano, a gift from the love of my life!
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
My biggest influence as a kid was Whitney Houston. I used to pretend I was her and sing her songs. I played her records absolutely ALL the time.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I proudly front 3 bands! I got started with my father in Rhythm Method in 2004. We formed Family Affair a year later and then Mica's Groove Train was born in 2010. I actively play out with all three line-ups.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
I'd give anything to sing harmony with Brian McKnight, because he's such a captivating singer. I could go on and on with a list of folks I'd die to jam with though...
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
I played a festival in Portsmouth, NH for about 1800 people. My most memorable performance however was at a little dive bar in front of a handful of people that came just to hear me sing. Awesome.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Hmmm...I'd take India Arie with me. I could listen to her 24/7/365. She sings about what's real, what's not, and learning to know the difference.
