What was the first concert you ever went to?
First concert I ever attended was with my father..he took me to see "Barber of Seville" when I was 9..i loved the music but hated the silly singing and acting!..first real concert I remember that actually meant something to me was seeing De La Soul when I was about 19..went with an extraordinary woman who should've been my girlfriend if i'd half the life experience to understand how to seduce such an angel of perfection..as it was, she gave me loads of mary-jane and the best kiss of my life up to that point..music was stunning..finding love was even better!!
What gear do you use?
use Reason and Ableton software. In love with an old Yamaha PSR-540 keyboard for MIDI input..the velocity is perfect for my finger tips and the demo on the keys in "theme from Titanic"..it couldn't get any better!
What are you looking for from Fandalism?
I'd love to find a singer or writer who wanted to create the perfect pop song.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Gary Numan, Jean-Michel Jarre, John Williams, Abba, Split Enz, The Beatles, Underworld, Faithless
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
We remain the finest pop act on the planet. Our live performances have been limited but our skill at being ridiculously talented remains unabated!!
Sometime in the past I was in a band called "shoestrings"...we played Johnny Cash, The Band and Nick Cave songs..we were very self-worthy!
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
either Nelson Riddle or VanDyke Parks...to chat with Gram Parsons would be fine..to be in the presence of Prince would be pure Heaven!
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Biggest was about 120,000 via a TV show in 1995..and smallest was about 15 folks in 2009..awesome gig..we were on fire and afterwards a punter came up and said the immortal quote.."I had no idea Trance could sound utterly brilliant from a bunch of real musicians.."
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Hounds of Love by Kate Bush. On a desert island..and an album with "Cloudbusting" and an entire second act dedicated to "The Ninth Wave"? what could be more appropriate!
