I was eight!
My sister would hog the HiFi and play Neil Diamond all the time, I thought if I hear about Cracklin Rose one more time I'd go nutz! I had no choice, had to fight fire with fire!
So, I saved and bought a used Peavey tube amp & a Harmony electric guitar, proceeded to play my version of "Whole lotta love" (Led Zepplin). Until my sister started screaming for my Dad and you don't want to piss off Dad!
