How long have you been playing?
I was 16 and I wanted to play because it was when I was just starting to properly listen to music, I love the sound a Bass makes and the potential sounds it can make.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Leeds Festival 2005. I went with my Dad, Muse and Incubus really stood out. It was then i decided, I need to be up there one day.
What gear do you use?
I use a Cort Artisan 6 string Bass, I have a laptop loaded with Cubase 5.1 SX and I use a line 6 tone port, to do all of my recording. Live I just plug in and play.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Mad Capsule Markets, because they sounded so different to anything else at the time, they were doing things with the sounds of normal instruments and making electronic heavy punk, them and Alien Ant Farm, because they are so under rated, Takeshi from MCM and Tye from AAF are great players, both in their own right.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I play in bands and I've been in bands before, I don't like the attachment that comes with the whole band thing, the reliance on other people to turn up and do their bit, don't get me wrong, I love playing in bands and I get on with people like a house on fire, but maybe I'm cursed ha ha, something always seems to happen to change it from fun and games to, this is serious business now, not just something you love doing.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Akira Jimbo, because he is the best drummer I've ever seen, if you can find a video of him playing with Tetsuo Sakurai they are amazing! Do it now! GO!
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
About 500, I was told anyway, it was somewhere in Berwick, there were a lot of people and I was very drunk so I don't remember. My favourite gig ever was at a friend of a friend's house, we played on, it was kind of like a stage, in the back garden, it was awesome, it was just different. Other than that, I've had lots of gigs, a lot of drunk gigs.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Alien Ant Farm - Anthology. I must have heard it when I was 18 or 19, but I just remember thinking, their bass player is awesome! There is always so much going on in every song and it changes so much over the course of the album, there are latin feel tracks, kind of like pop punk tracks, Wish, is quite hardcore, my favourite song on there is Summer, because it's fun to play.
