How long have you been playing?
I started playing Clarinet when I was in 4th grade. I picked up guitar in the 7th grade and that was pretty much all she wrote.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
My first concert was Sammy Hagar and Boston in St Louis MO. Sammy was opening for Boston on the "Don't Look Back" tour. Boston was amazing! Tom Scholz is a master guitarist and writer. That organ was loud! I will say that Barry Goudreau impressed me just as much as Tom Scholz did with his playing, and Barry's SG was awsome.
What gear do you use?
I record on Protools 9, I use Spectrasonics Omnisphere and Native Instruments Komplete 7 for Soft Synths. Izotope Ozone for my mastering plugin. I use a Royer SF-12 stereo coincidence ribbon mic for overhead drum microphones, and Mojave MA-200's for vocals and Guitar cabinets. For guitars I mostly use my Gibson SG, Les Paul Standard, ES-137 or Fender Strat, but lately I have been getting more into acoustic guitars, especially my Cordoba Classical. Guitar amps are Line-6 Vetta II and Bogner Alchemist. My favorite pieces of gear are my SG with the Bogner amp and Spectrasonics Omnisphere soft synth. For Drums I have a Pearl Forum kit that has been professionally set up and you might be suprised how good a low end kit can sound when it is properly set up with good heads and tuned. My drummer has an awesome Stainless steel Snare that cuts like a knife - which he uses instead of the ordinary snare. I would like to have a couple of different snares on hand though - a picollo and such for variety during recording sessions. Dummers....any suggestions? For not being a drummer I have a passion / (fetish,...perhaps.... ;-) ) for cool cymbals. I would like to build up a nice collection of interesting and odd cymbals. I have noticed those are as expensive or more so, than guitar pedals. Nothing is inexpensive anymore.
In the guitar realm my latest really cool addition is a Gibson SG Diablo... Really???? gibson?... you had to call it a DIABLO?.... (.sarcasm.) yeah I get it, it sounds rock'n'roll. but come on.. Well, that is a minor complaint only. It is a real heavy sound machine with a full 2 octave neck, floyd rose tremolo, and two gibson humbuckers. It has beauty and functionality with the sculpted body, simplified volume/tone controls up front, and the jack on the side (finally!). This guitar is a real object of beauty in a very sweet gloss black.

What are you looking for from Fandalism?
Sharing music, making new friends, creative input, inspiration, enjoying the really cool music others are creating, and enjoying life.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Rush was probably my biggest musical influence overall. All three of those guys are consumate musicians. They are professional, great musicians on their respective instrument and decent people as well. Rush has always had respect for their fans. Alex lifeson is a creative genius. His tasteful use of effects and dedication to tone and perfection of performance are unparalled. Carlos Santana, is the spiritual master of expression on guitar. He conjures amazing scales and melodies. David Gilmoure is a melodic master. He can bend notes and hit the mark like no one else.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I have been in a few bands in my time. I have played in Church bands and Progressive rock bands. But mostly I enjoy writing and recording my own music. I would rather play original compositions than cover tunes. I really love recording, more than anything else. I am always working on some sort of collaborative music project with my friends.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
I think I would pick David Gilmoure. He is one of the most expressive guitarists out there right now. Very very good. Jimmy Page would be really cool too, and I would really like to jam with Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee and Neil Peart! I would also like to jam with Debi Pomeroy. She seems really cool and I like cool people!.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The biggest audience was in Orlando FL, it was about 2000 people, the smallest was probably 15 people in Hampton VA.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
David Gilmoure's latest solo album, "On an Island" ;-)

Part 2 of the electronica series. Drew Orton on Drums. Fender Stratocaster guitar used this time. Spectrasonics Omnisphere for softsynth again for the cools sounds. I love that ELP sound.
