I was X when I first called a herd of feral kittens to my side using the string technique. Luckily, I got better over the next 4 years, good enough to be Concert Mistress for the school orchestra and 2nd chair first violins in the junior state symphony. Blah blah blah. I got bored. Yes, I was good and if I would've stuck to it could have been quite successful in the classical world. Alas, I don't like the feel, or sound, of taffeta. Creeps me out. I stopped playing for 15 years and went a little hippy. Found out I was a natural at beating the skins. Bongos, djembes, congas, marimbas, and so on. If it needs hands or mallets to make sound and rhythm, I got it. Oh, and the singing? Been doing that since I was a wee lass. That came naturally too. Passed on from my great grandmother; dad's side. So, after years of gallivanting through life and taking in all I could absorb, I decided it was time to pick up the violin again. That choice was one of the best I ever made. I didn't "become" a musician, I finally acknowledged that I just "am" a musician. Not the worst, not the best, just am.

The Church, May 1988, at Pine Street Theater in Portland, OR (man I miss that city). The only way my parents would let me go to the concert was if my sister was the chaperone (as if that made it safe). My sister was always great at the angel act. Thank heavens she was, because I had so much fun anytime I went out with her. I adore and cherish my sis! The show was amazing, I was 16 and fully expressing my gothic tendencies. Afterwards, we finagled our way backstage. During the process I had visions of how incredible it was going to be back there. Let's just say, it was my first lesson in "rock stars are people too". They were tired, stoned out of there minds, and honestly, quite uninterested in any of the fans. Sorry guys, I mean no disrespect to you. You put on a great show, but failed afterwards. Now, Iggy Pop, there's a cool dude behind the scenes.

It's supposed to be a band or musician right? It's not. Nature and the natural environment of wherever I am has always been my inspiration. Life is sound, sound is math, math is music.
