How long have you been playing?
I was drawn to learn songs from 45"s when I was 6. I then started singing as a group with my younger sisters at 8 yrs old. My mother had been a professional singer and encouraged us. I wrote my first poem at 10,actively wrote poetry at 14 on and stated playing guitar at age 16. The short answer is "evolution."
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I mostly have played solo of with friends I have jammed with for fundraisers and small events. I was in a band called "Hi Beam" working out original dance songs. Our biggest gig was the Trinidad Fish Festival. I think it was only its 3 year. I have had the pleasure of playing with phenomenal musicians hear and there. I mostly do originals but will do covers when I play gigs like the farmers markets that are 3 hour sets. I have almost outgrown my desire to be in a band but thanks for asking. I would like to have more folks to harmonize with both vocals and instruments.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Eric Clapton, Elton John,Christie McVie, Sarah McLaughlin, Stephen Stills and Diana Krall.
The effortlessness for which they play there instruments and the passion that permeates through the delivery. I had to think on it a bit but have always wanted to play with Eric and Elton (on the same album). I'd probably have to get Don Henley in on it for drums ...Yeah that's my dream team. Oh, I guess while we are at it throw in Stanley Clark's bass and all we need now is a soulful sax player...will soulful sax player please step up to the podium?

What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The biggest may be a tie between a college venue in southern Oregon in the 70's and the Humboldt Folklife Festival in any given year. Under 100. The smallest may have been like 6 people in audience. I always enjoyed it especially if I noticed just one person zoning on the tunes. My most memorable what my most recent (maybe because age is catching up with my brain). A small intimate audience of about 30 for a community event in Paamul Mexico Feb 26,2012 called Saturday Nite Live. I live in a community there in the winter and it is so very supportive and attentive. I was fortunate enough to use my friends better sound system and had actually practiced enough to step fully in performance and it felt good.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Album: We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things (2008) by Jason Mraz. I guess it must have just been released the year I went to Kauai to live for several months to hang out with my daughter Leah Tamara. She is an amazing singer and I was at a live performance she was doing and she sang 'I'm Yours'. I had never heard it before, and there was something different and refreshing about it. I then began to hear it every where I went including Mexico. I purchased the CD, yes, purchased in the outdated CD format the album just to learn the song.(I know...I have discovered u-tube since) I never really tire of the album because is jumps around in style enough but the songwriting poetry is absolutely superb plus I always love to sing along with I'm Yours!.
