How long have you been playing?
I was born in Paris, France, 1984, like the book written by George Orwell. So I'll let you count because you have fingers too ;)
At the age of 16 -- that's to say in the year 2000 -- I started to sing in my bedroom heavy metal stuff like Fear Factory, Metallica, or Faith No More.
Then I took classical singing lessons (opera style) with a wonderful teacher in Paris. Unfortunately it didn't last long because I had to save up money for my photography studies when I was 18.
However I've always kept this genuine passion for music and lyric writing especially because I'm very fond of the English language and international musical culture. I've grown with the Beatles, Supertramp, Sting, Toto, AC/DC, or Pantera playing in the house all the time so it was easy for me to develop an eclectic taste and good ear in music.

What gear do you use?
I use my voice and photo gear to scare everyone with intense flashes!
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
THE ANSWER IS FAMILY FIRST!!!!
I can't remember when exactly I became interested in music because it is kind of like I have always been surrounded by music and musicians: my grand father (mouth organ, accordion), father (acoustic guitar), and older brother (electric guitar) being all good musicians -- especially my brother who rapidly became a virtuoso.

Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I had a few bands when I was a youngster with middle school friends but now I just mainly work alone and take photos for bands in the Parisian area.
So for now my work about music remains very secretive if I may say. In French we say it is 'mon jardin secret' -- my secret garden. Maybe someday I'll be triggered by some circumstance and will be wanting to shine it all around as Robert Plant says in his 2005 album.
We all have dreams. Ha ha :)

If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
I would love to sing with David Bowie or Sting or Stevie Wonder some day! John Lennon is dead unfortunately...
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
At first I am a professional photographer from Paris, France.
My biggest audience or performance? So for now all I can do for you is appreciate good quality art (not only music) and share with you some of mine. Here is my website: http://jonathancharpentier.com/ I am currently working on a bilingual version of my website -- coming soon folks!
So feel free to drop by and say hello you're always welcome.

You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
If I'm stuck on a desert album I would need to bring also a CD player. But where do I plug it in? In a coconut tree or in some innocent monkey a**hole?
Seriously it would be hard to choose. I would make a customized 5CD Box including a selection of songs by: Sting - Stevie Wonder - The Beatles - Vast - David Bowie - Prince - Supertramp - Devin Townsend - The Roots - Pink Floyd - Porcupine Tree - Joe Satriani - Jacotte Cholet - AC/DC - Erik Truffaz - John Legend - Faith No More - Michael Jackson - Gotye - Pantera - Pat Metheny - Rammstein - Cee Lo Green - Ulver - Mötley Crüe - Megadeth (with Marty Friedman) - Ray Charles... in no particular order!
Finally I think I would take the 2CD Stevie Wonder Best Of because if you're stuck on a desert island you would better have positive music to listen to and sing along to!
