Gibson '37 RB4 tube and plate flange mastertone, 2001 Stelling Sunflower, Resonphonic banjo, home made but fantastic sound.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Bill Keith, his feel and style just switched something on in me, i admire Scruggs picking but i have to say its not my fav style.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
loads of bands, best band were Rattlesnake in Norway 1980 and Out To Grass in the UK. 14 yrs doing the festivals with this band. Now with Bob McClean as the duo "Old Grey Dogs" and enjoying it best of all. we play shows across the UK yes.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Jens Kruger, Bela Fleck, The Kruger Brothers, because they totaly inspire and influence me, Donovan Leitch because i love his songs, Dylan, same reason. John Kuhn, John Boulding and Laurence Deihl, my three banjo brothers in America, i do hope we meet sometime.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Cambridge Folk Fest 1500ish, smallest? some of the folk clubs near home. Most memorable was Coulston bluegrass club during London bluegrass week in 2010 i think it was, Bob and i just rocked a full house and as a duo we were on with multi 5 piece bands and put on late at night. my playing was at its best and so was Bob, the crowd was in and the lights were low, get the picture?
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Jens Kruger, The Suite. It presses all my buttons.
