How long have you been playing?
I was first introduced to playing music in the 4th grade when i began playing clarinet. I later switched to piano in the 6th grade when my mom signed me up and i began playing classical music. Then in 7th grade i aspired to be in a band so i began to play guitar and that instrument has stuck with me since then and i plan to stick with it for many, many years.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
The first concert i went to that was not free was a show of "Steam Powered Giraffe. What made it memorable was the unique way the music was presented as the band members are in costume in robots. They portrayed their role very well and the music was very enjoyable to listen to. It was in Downtown San Diego, i went with my family, and the year was 2012.
What gear do you use?
My current guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul. I've enjoyed this guitar for a while but i am looking for something with a sound that closer fits the style of music i am playing. My amplifier is a Marshal half-stack.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
My biggest musical influence growing up was the band Led Zeppelin. This was the first band i avidly listened to and i learned to play guitar by learning their songs. I like them because of how revolutionary they were to the genre of music and also they just sound amazing, weather they are playing a hard rock song, or a soft acoustic piece. I was introduced to them by a friend. Up until then i had just been listening to classical music, which i also still listen to.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Its not so much of a band than an instrumental duo and the moment. We play anything from funk to alternative, but we really just play whatever we want. I met the bassist in high school. We have played 2 "shows" but nothing that is worth commendation.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Honestly, the only person would be the bassist, i am in an "instrumental ensemble" with. We have great musical chemistry and when i play music with anyone else, i just don't feel that connection.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The biggest audience i have performed for was my 8th grade class at our graduation ceremony. This would also be my most memorable performance. I played Satch Boogie by Joe Satriani.
