Four prestigious Italian musicians and their American Co-author/singer Lisa full of energy. We present to you Hippie Tendencies: Lisa Marie Simmons (lead vocal), Marco Cremaschini (piano, keys arrangements background vocals) , Massimo Saviola (bass, background vocals) , Cesare Valbusa (drums, percussion, background vocals) and Christian Codenotti (Acoustic Guitar and background vocals). They met in 2005 when Lisa called Marco on the advice of a friend to deepen her understanding of the piano. They decided that same day that they needed to form a band despite their very different musical backgrounds. Lisa , in fact , has written and recorded Pop and Dance tunes topping dance charts with Bacon Popper in 1998 and has been performing live throughout Europe for years while Marco is a consummate Jazz pianist with extensive live and recording experience as well. He’s worked with , among others , Silvia Dalla Noce, Kay Foster Jackson, Jenny B, and Cheryl Porter. The affinity was instantaneous .. within 2 weeks they met up with Massimo ,The Mountain Man. A bassist with a Bossa Nova background who’d played on Radio Televisione Cubana, not only that he’s worked with Elisabeth Cutler, Corimè, Alessandro Ducoli, Alan Zamboni among others. just like Cesare Valbusa mythic drummer in whose curriculum we find collaborations with Italian musicians of the caliber of Bruno Lauzi, Rudy Rotta, Omar Pedrini, Paola & Chiara) and high octane international musicians like Love Lee (Muddy Waters), T.M Stevens (Tina Turner), Steve Logan (M.Petrucciani), James Burton (Elvis Presley) e John Jorgenson(Elton John, Barbra Streisand). Both additions to the band brought long experience in the Italian music scene..as session players and in other projects that brought them all over Europe and America as well . Within another couple weeks they had written their first Hippie Tendencies tune Feel No Pain . Then ,of course, the new arrival Christian Codenotti. Eclectic musician, he began his career as a singer working in various studios in the north of Italy as a session vocalist (while also studying guitar) and collaborating on many Pop projects working with among others great Italian showman Fiorello and Fabio Vola. He has also worked for the last ten years with the studio Ritmo&Blu ,( http://www.ritmoeblu.com/ita/ ) where he has played various roles, including Composer, Arranger, Session Vocalist and Sound Engineer. During the recording of the first H.T. album at Ritmo& Blu he fit right into and loved H.T. thus joined the band.
Impossible to miss that they are inspired by artists like b.dylan, j.mitchell and w.guthrie , j.taylor, as well as a. difranco, h.hancock , d.matthews band and on and on ..Hippie Tendencies nevertheless have achieved a groove unique to themselves, with a back to basics, natural sound produced by talented inspired musicians which blends seamlessly with the poignant, passionate lyrics.
Though each of these multifaceted musicians have previously recorded and released their music independently and on major labels with other projects here finally is their self titled debut as a group released on the new independent label Penthar Music. Guest musicians are rife throughout the album including Simone Boffa (Granny Says Band) and Simone Guiducci on electric and acoustic guitar respectively as well as Fillipo De Paoli (Plan De Fuga) on Acoustc Guitar, Zsuzsanna Czinki on cello , Betty Vittori and Cristian Codenotti on background vocals among others. Today is the right day to let yourself be won over by the originality the musical virtuosity and the energy of Hippie Tendencies.
