I started singing at the age of 18 months. Began piano lessons at age 7 and guitar at age 12. My father is an accomplished classical guitarist, violinist and saxophonist. He is a music teacher. I was raised on classical music, but I love almost all kinds.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
My first concert was The Monkees in 1966 in Charlotte, NC. I went with Junior Patterson, my boyfriend at the time. We had a blast!!
What gear do you use?
I have a very old Kent classical guitar, an Arianna 12-string, a Takamine EC132C electric classical cataway (my favorite) and a Casio CTK611 keyboard.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
My greatest musical influence has to be my dad, Ray Ledford.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Not currently in a band. Began playing in bands at age 13 with The Versatones. Many bands came after that, but the very best was Legend, when my son who was 16 at the time, joined us on drums. Kinds of music included rock, pop, beach and country. Played many shows in clubs, but got really sick of the drunks and undesirables. Would love to play spiritual music now to use my talent to glorify God. He gave me my talent. Couldn't have done any of it on my own.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Steve Perry, because he is my favorite male vocalist; Diana Krall, because she is incredibly talented; Neal Morse, because his music is awesome and it brought me back to the Lord after I had strayed.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Biggest -- Probably around 200 people. Smallest -- about 15.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
ONE by Neal Morse, because it brings me up when I'm down. First heard it on May 26, 2006. It's the most amazing music I've ever heard!
