1972 - the Guess Who - Went with some friends from high school. It rocked!
What gear do you use?
1972 Gibson Les Paul, 1966 Fender Bassman. My Dad got me the Les Paul when I graduated high school. Traded my old 66 Fender Super Reverb to Cid Sanchez for the Bassman.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
The Rolling Stones. I heard Get Your Ya Ya's Out - Love In Vain. Became a Blues addict.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I play lead guitar and sing with Texas Pearl - a country band - and play with Retroactive - a classic rock band. Doing shows with Texas Pearl and Retroactive and sitting in with other bands from time to time - like Mouth Full of Badness.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
The Allman Brothers. They solidified my addiction to the Blues.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
I've played shows where all I could see was people. I don't know the count. Most memorable show was playing with Sam Stephens, Cid Sanchez, Chris Layton, and a harmonica player from Austin at the Navy Base in Corpus Christi Texas. I played rhythm guitar (a little lead) and sang. Cid is the best guitar player I've played with - can play anything. We all know about Chris (seen him on TV many times with Stevie Ray).
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
My own - Troubled Ground. I wrote the songs, played lead guitar, and love the songs like they were my children.
