I took a few Piano lessons when I was very young. Learned the Violin up to grade 4 in my early teens. Bought my first synth, a Yamaha DX11 when I was 16. Then decided I should play guitar so blew my student loan during my first year of uni on an Ibanez 540R (a la Joe Satriani). The following year I learned to beat match on a pair of old belt drives and bought my own Technics 1210MkIIs shortly after. I mixed and was a bedroom DJ for about 20 years in total before deciding to start writing my own material in 2008.

I have a custom built PC and a Macbook Pro for writing and producing on, though I've pretty much moved over to using the Mac exclusively now. I use an M-Audio Axiom midi controller with Ableton Live and Logic.
