I was born a musician. As a baby, apparently, I tested the acoustics of every building or room I entered, by giving a yell, and then intently listened to the echo...As a child I learned to play the piano, violin en recorderflute. I sang in the Bloemfontein Children's Choir and the Free State Youth Choir. A studied BA Drama, and later qualified myself further in the Singing direction
What was the first concert you ever went to?
One of the first concerts I went to was a production of "The Sound of Music". My mom played/sang the role of a nun in it.
What gear do you use?
My favourite is my Yamaha piano, which my mom bought with her first salary cheque, and on which I practised for all my piano exams. I also love my Casio Privia keyboard, and my German violin (make unknown), and my wooden Aura, and Yamaha Alto recorderflutes.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. Also choir and organ music.
Later: ABBA, Musicals, and still later: Opera
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
I would love to sing a duet with Patricia Kaas or Elina Garanca.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
St George Hotel in Centurion - about 1000 people.
Most memorable: my concert in 2011: "Sunday Afternoon Classics with Esperance"
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Debussy's Mélodies. Can't live without French music.
