I first started when I was 8. I actually started out with the violin and decided I hated it so I went to the cello instead. I have no been playing for close to 11 years. I can't imagine my life without the cello. It is my life.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
I can't even remember the first concert I went to. My mother has always taken me to concerts ever since I was at least 4 years.
What gear do you use?
I have a full size Cepzial Cellobau by Tllner Riedl. And yes that's actually what the cello is called. It also has a lion head where the scroll is! And I use a Londoner four star cherry wood bow with Ephesian horse hair.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
I know everyone probably says this but my teacher Sally Singer is. She's a world renowned cellist. She usually travels everywhere and she is the most beautiful player I have ever heard! (Aside from Jaqueline Du Pre)
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I'm in a four bands right now. One of the them is called Mother Foxes. We've played a couple shows. The other bands I'm in are still in the "garage stage" and are just starting out. I accompany all of them.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
OH EEM GEEE It would be with Jaqueline Du Pre or Rostapovich. Most amazingly fabulous cellists to ever walk God's good earth.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The smallest was for two people for an audition. And my most memorable was my largest audience. It was close to 1,000 people and it was when I played the Elegie by Gabriel Faure. Best experience of my life.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
I'd bring my cello :P I don't need an album. I can make my own music.
