INFERNOPHONIC: EYE OF THE JEDI, LIVE @ MAXWELL'S, HOBOKEN, NJ AUG 07 GIRLS ROCK GIRLS RULE TOUR
Uploaded 1 year ago
How long have you been playing?
I'd been singing along to the radio and my dad's records and 8 tracks since as far back as I can remember. He had albums by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Janis Joplin, Santana, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and The Doors and listened to mostly oldies radio stations, so that music and those artists were my earliest inspirations and the reasons I became an artist.
I've been performing since age 7 and always knew music was my life. As I grew older I found I was primarily interested in and moved by music that was socially and spiritually focused, such as my biggest influences, Bob Marley, John Lennon (and the Beatles), and Pink Floyd. Phish and the Grateful Dead have also had a huge impact on me as an artist and a person.
My biggest vocal influences (and favorite vocalists) are Martha Wash, Ann Wilson, Michael Sweet, Brad Delp, Steve Perry, Cyndi Lauper, Annie Lennox, Janis Joplin,Donna Summer, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin.
I've been musically inspired and influenced by funk, soul, and R&B artists such as James Brown, Stevie Wonder, P-funk and Aretha Franklin. Latin music also has influenced me, specifically Afro-Cuban, as my mother is Cuban and I was raised listening to some of the most influential Latin artists like Benny More. I began studying classical piano at age 11 and was musically educated at Westminster Choir College (classical, choral music, opera, voice performance) which afforded me the opportunity to perform at such presitigous, legendary venues as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center (NYC) under world-famous conductors like Leonard Bernstein, Robert Shaw, and Ricardo Muti.
I have been performing and recording professionally as a vocalist for over 15 years.

What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The biggest audience I ever performed to was at a boxing match in the Hartford Civic Center in CT. I sang the National Anthem in front of a crowd of about 10K.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Pink Floyd - The Wall

Elaine Tuttle performs Ribbon In the Sky with Alive N Kickin - Me doing Stevie Wonder's "Ribbon In the Sky" at a wedding gig with my band Alive N Kickin on 4.28.12. That's my band leader (and original member of Alive N Kickin) Pepe, unwittingly filming himself for the first minute or so...my iPhone camera was flipped and he didn't figure it out right away! But the audio came out fine and that's what matters, right?
Alive N Kickin is a one hit wonder band, who had a #1 hit with Tighter & Tighter in the summer of 1970 - before my time!

Elaine Tuttle performs Don't Stop Believing with Alive N Kickin at Tamaqua, Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn, NY on St. Patty's Day 2012. The orientation was switched several times during filming (on an iPhone), so I edited this video so that most of it is facing the right way. I couldn't rotate it multiple times, only once. Sorry! It starts out sideways but soon is facing the right way.
Me performing Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" with one of my bands, Alive N Kickin, at Tamaqua, Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn, NY on St. Patrick's Day 2012.
