I started playing the guitar when I was 14 but didn't get serious about it for a couple of years.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
I've never been to any sort of concert.
What gear do you use?
My guitar is an inexpensive, natural finished Ash strat copy from rondomusic.com. My amp is a 1965 model Fender Concert, I use an Alesis Nanoverb for reverb and a pair of Dano Pastrami overdrive pedals (one set for full overdrive and the other set for a four or five dB boost for solos. My keyboard is an 88 key Casio Privia which I run through a 15" solid state Fender bass combo.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Jimi Hendrix.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I play guitar & keyboard and am the lead singer in a beer-joint, weekend-warrior band. We play a lot of traditional Country, a little vintage Rock & Roll and a little Blues. Our main venue is Pats bar in Kingsland (TX) but I'm open for whatever comes along.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Ron Carter. I love jazz but have never had the opportunity to play much of it.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
I've played for over a thousand people a time or two but my most memorable gig was at a club in Del Rio (TX) called The Starting Gate where I spent two nights playing for the bartender and one waitress. On the second night I persuaded the bartender to pay us half the booked price and we left early (never to return).
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Wouldn't bring any. I only like music when I have an instrument in my hands and am allowed to make a contribution to the entertainment.
