I was about six when I started piano, I learned theory first, didn't enjoy it so moved on to Suzuki method (playing by ear) then later went back to theory. I've been singing and writing music since the age of 9.
What gear do you use?
I have a fancy yamaha keyboard, and a very old piano. I have a pretty lovely Takamine D Series guitar.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Billy Joel, Elton John, Don Henley, Don McLean, Tracy Chapman
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I'm not in a band at the moment, I have been in a 80s cover band briefly but it wasn't really my scene as I prefer playing original music.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Probably Regina Spektor because she's so quirky and creative, or Bon Iver because I love his genre and sound. I would say John Mayer but I would probably die if that ever happened.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
The biggest was probably about 3000 people opening for Stan Walker. My most memorable was one that I performed in High School, I was third form (year 9) and was the first time I ever sang an original song in front of an audience other than my family.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
John Mayer's Continuum album. I've never heard anything more perfect in my life.
