Began studying classical piano at age 3. Has been composing music since age 6. Performing at the piano has been limited since 2009 after Ehlers-Danlos started taking a firm hold on my career as a musician. Ehlers-Danlos is a rare genetic condition that effects all my joints, tissues, bones, organs, blood vessels, teeth, eyes, skin...
There is no cure - it's progressive, and degenerative. With yearly echo-grams on my heart, I will hopefully have a normal life span.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Andre Watts - Beethoven's "Emperor" Concerto at the Kennedy Center.
I was in middle school, learning the first movement myself, and I remember sitting in the balcony playing along in my head.
What gear do you use?
Roland RD-700GX - favorite piece to play right now is House of the Rising Sun.
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Chopin for his delicate nature. Late period Beethoven for his dark strength. Prokofiev because we both suffer from Ehlers-Danlos and have found some way of using it to our advantage. And finally... Philip Glass because I remember in "Glass Works," he said something along the lines of... "I don't care if you like my music, find something you do like and listen to that." Couldn't agree more.
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
Distrails - It's lush/filmscory/indie/poprock - write along with my musician husband Jared Draughon.
Far-Less - played keys for them for a few years.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
Colin Greenwood. I think we have similar sensibilities and wouldn't step all over each other.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
800's the biggest, 12's the smallest haha. Favorite venue was Music Hall of Williamsburg in NYC. Awesome place to play, the sound on stage was perfect.
Bitsy Pina (Rough Tracks: Mixed and Mastered Coming Soon) hasn't uploaded any pics yet.
