I've been playing guitar since I was 14 years old... about 1967. I was inspired by listening to music of the 60s and 70s. I'm mostly self taught. I took up the bass about 20 years ago to play in church. I've picked up the banjo and the mandolin along the way, but nothing serious.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
I'm a late bloomer... sheltered life as a kid. The best concert I've every seen was in Moscow in 1987. Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Carlos Santana and Doobie Brothers on the same stage!
Who was your biggest musical influence growing up?
Eric Clapton, Jimmy Paige, Chet Adkins, Les Paul, Ventures... whatever was playing on the radio...
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
I only have time to play bass at my church. I play the six string to entertain myself anymore.
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
I would jam with my young friend Dan Land... guitarist for Legends... He's a good kid with good musical sense!
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
When I was a teenager I played with the local chapter of Up With People-Sing Out Amarillo! We would tour the tri-state area an play for the locals.... a hundred or so in the audience.
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Eric Clapton Unplugged... great tunes... love the acoustic version of Layla!
