How long have you been playing?
Too long to not be as good as I want to be.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Pearl Jam...September 1992, Honolulu...Scott, Grant, Keahi, Kelly...I helped catch Eddie Vedder falling at least 40 feet, lost my right big toe nail while going barefoot in the pit
What gear do you use?
early 2000's Music Man Petrucci (thanks, Phil!), planning on adding a Fernandes Sustainer and a synth pickup before year's end...Carvin Legacy combo..."Frankenstein" guitar w/ ESP neck, Ibanez RG body, kill switch, Duncan pickups (Jazz neck, JB bridge)...various pedals
Are you in a band? Have you been in bands?
City of Women is my current band. I've been in numerous bands of varied styles over the years, ranging from metal to shoegaze to noise to free improv to indie pop, among others
If you could jam with anyone, who would it be?
John McLaughlin...a true living legend. I feel that playing with him would not only be a great musical learning experience but it would also be one of the most spiritually earth-shattering jam sessions of all time...well, from my point of view, at least.
What's the biggest audience you ever performed to? What's the smallest?
Probably that night when my current band sold out Cafe Du Nord. I couldn't see them all from the stage, but the energy was palpable. Smallest...probably The Lost Horizon in Syracuse, NY with me and Pud's band Katai (I believe there were 6 people, including staff)
You're stuck on a desert island and only get to bring one album with you. What do you pick?
Dream Theater's "Metropolis Pt. II". Pud played it for me when I thought I wasn't a fan anymore (we saw our first DT show together on Long Island back in '95), and I think it's safe to say it's the one album I've listened to more than any other. Honorable mentions: Kate Bush "Hounds of Love", Al DiMeola/John McLaughlin/Paco de Lucia "Friday Night In San Francisco", King Crimson "The Great Deceiver"
