I started playing trombone in the sixth grade but became a songwriter as soon as I stated playing guitar and listening to The Velvet Underground, Jimi Hendrix, R.E.M. and the Cure and stuff. I was around thirteen when I got my first guitar.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
1989, Living Colour at the boathouse. They pulled out all the stops. Stage diving and crowd surfing lead singer Corey Glover was on fire! Vernon Reed stod right over me with his guitar and classic one foot on the monitor stance. Will Calhoun played a drum solo that lasted until the band had broken down and the place was half empty with the lights on. It must have been twenty minutes and finally my sister pulled my out of the Boathouse. I did not want to miss anything and we could still hear will playing as we rolled out of the parking lot, his drums resounding in the distance and fading out.
